Hi all. I'm working on a research paper on Braille for one of my classes. However, I'm thinking of also including info on Braille in other languages besides the American English version. I've read Spanish, Latin, some British or UK, and one French, and I know the formats and/or symbols are different from the American one. But I would like samples of Braille in the languages I mentioned, and especially Chinese, Russian, and others. (Nothing big, just maybe a sheet of the alphabet and a short paragraph of anything. If you wouldn't mind mailing me a sheet (I believe anyone can mail Braille for free), let me know here or PM me, and I'll give you my mailing address. Also, if you know where I can get info on Braille in other languages, please let me know. Thanks in advance and I'd really appreciate this.!

I too am interested in Braille in various languages only not for the same reason as Leilani. My reson has to do with the Woodland Trail that I a working on putting into place and will have trail marker signs in BOTH Braille and Large Print and the various languages presented in Braille would be welcomed in using in particular on a "Welcome Sign." If anyone has the addresses of where these variou Braille in Languages can be obtained perhaps you will list them here as a convience. Thanks, Connie P.S. Leilani, I wish you well on your resarch paper!
Hi,
Would you be interseted in the Australian version of braille, also?
Yes, any other versions of Braille is good. Thanks. OH, and of course to everyone, I'll give credit if I use your work in my paper.

Ok, cool.
Have a lok at www.braille.ch Most of the site is in German, but they also have a section in English on the German as well as the Chinese Braille systems. Good luck with your project!
elmira, Thank You for listing this Braille info site. Both the German and Chinese Braille systems I find intriguing. Also I note there is some info on a proposal for a Yiddish Braille Code.
Yes, thanks a lot for the site, elmira. *smiles* This will help a lot with my paper.

you might also include as an interesting tidbit the code pattern in brail. For example, consider, b, 1-2, c, 1-3, d, k, 1-3, l, 1-2-3, x 1-3-4-6, y, 1-3-4-5-6, see the pattern inherent here? Also, the only letter that breaks this mold is w, there is a reason for this.
The designer of braille was french, thus, they don't use w.
